Get the champagne at the ready, Patsy & Eddy are back this summer for an ABFAB-ulous time and I for one am bubbling over with excitement!
I am aware that this post is a little off topic for my blog (It is not Australia specific whatsoever), however I feel the need to write it, given how much it made me smile during my Australian adventure.
If you haven’t seen ABFAB then you need to make it your next binge series. Put down all of that serious crime dither and give this show a watch, it’s sure to make even the longest week at work dissipate into much hilarity (and probably much wine).
With the movie on the horizon I thought I would see what the party girls themselves have to offer us, apart from the copious laughs and relatable disasters.
Granted it probably should be noted that yes, ABFAB contains questionable morals and a fair few unhealthy vices, but I think if we look closely enough we can all learn a few valid life lessons…
Don’t take yourself too seriously
Wear the dress. Buy the OTT sunglasses. Be who you want to be and remember to laugh. Life can be really ultra stressful and serious at the best of times, so why make it more difficult for ourselves than it already is? Don’t stress about the little things and try not to take yourself too seriously. (Ps, buy the sunglasses).
Take care of good friends
Take care of people you love. I am a right sop when it comes to my closest friends and I tell them I love them all the time. Sometimes I think they worry about my motives and so they should, I love them wholeheartedly. It’s these people who are always on your team, clapping when you win that you want for keeps. Whether its joining you in a soul searching trip across the globe, herding you, staggering into a taxi after one to many prosecco’s or coming over on a Friday night for a good ol’ moaning session, it’s important to keep these positive influences in our lives.
Don’t underestimate your abilities
We all know that saying, ‘keep your heels, hair and standards high’? Well, I for one love a good backcomb and so does Patsy. ABFAB can teach us to have high standards and self belief. Eddie doesn’t let her copious bad press and career knock-backs dampen her PR Guru spirit. She represents LouLou, she is going to hit the big time and WILL make friends with Stella Mcartney. Having life goals is important and although we may not know exactly where we are heading, know that wherever that is, you can do it.
You are as young as you feel
We are all getting older. What a statement, I know, what a prophet. These days I find myself reeling at the idea of going to a dingy smoke-filled club and bemoaning how loud the music is. However, that’s not to say I shouldn’t go or won’t. Patsy is in total denial regarding her age and goes clubbing well into her 60’s. No matter how old we are or how grown up we feel, life is for living. So party on.
There is always room for a glass of bubbles
Unfortunately most of us don’t have access to an automatically re-filling Bollinger champagne fridge, unlike Eddie and Patsy. For the rest of us prosecco will do nicely and If all else fails, at the end of a long hard week of work, there is always room for one (or two) glasses of bubbles! Cheers!
